Amon Baker was born and schooled in the state of Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Music Degree at East Texas Baptist College, Marshall, Texas and a Master of Church Music Degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. He has served as Minister of Music in churches in Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Arkansas. He was on staff at Immanuel Baptist Church, Little Rock for 21 years, and was Director of Choral Activities at Southern Baptist College for two school years. He also worked as a travel agent for seven years with Kruger Travel in Little Rock.
Amon and Joy, his wife, organized, trained, and led adult choirs to different countries of Europe, singing sacred music concerts in churches, city halls, cathedrals, and nursing homes as their way of getting involved in world missions. They conducted seven of those trips.
Mr. Baker is now retired and ministering as Interim Music Director in churches around over the Southern Baptist Convention, conducting choral clinics in local churches, and directing student choirs and orchestras in Advanced Training Institute Regional Family Conferences in different states. He is also a member of the NailBenders of Arkansas and is a Mannatech Associate.
Mr. Baker is married to Joynelle Gammon Baker of Longview, Texas and they have three daughters, one granddaughter, three grandsons, one great-grandson, and one great-granddaughter. They are headquartered in Little Rock and are members of the First Baptist Church of Little Rock.
Activities
Choir rehearsals ~ including training in a variety of choral and vocal techniques, such as breath control, tone, posture, and proper pronunciation of vowels. A variety of enjoyable sacred choral music will be selected based on the singing level of participants.
Lectures ~ on interesting topics relevant to singing
Bible study ~ on topics relevant to singing
Masterclasses ~ brief personal lessons in front of the group. Everyone is encouraged to participate, but has the opportunity to decline.
Schedule
Camp runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, August 3-7. The final concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7.
Purpose
To provide high-quality training in praising the Lord in song, in an enjoyable atmosphere, regardless of students' past experience or future plans with regard to singing.
Eligibility
Choir Camp is open to everyone age 12 and older who can sing on pitch, and can read music at a basic level. Adults are welcome! Ten- and eleven-year-olds are also welcome if their parents feel they have suitable maturity and attention span. If you are unsure of your ability so sing on pitch, please contact us to set up an audition to determine your eligibility.
Registration
Online registration is now open -- click here to register. To assist in planning, please register as soon as possible, and no later than July 11. We reserve the right to close registration on July 11, and to turn down applications for any reason. Registrations accepted after July 11 will be subject to a $5 late registration fee.
Tuition
Tuition is $55 (including late fee) for the first student in a family, and is decreased by an additional $5 for each subsequent member of the same immediate family. For example, tuition is $50 for the second student in a family, $45 for the third, etc.. Checks should be made payable to Hannah Malone and mailed to Hannah Malone, 7380 FM 3405, Liberty Hill, TX 78642. Your check should be received within one week of the date you register online, or your registration may be invalidated.
Refunds
If you choose to cancel your registration for Choir Camp, please contact us. If you inform us before July 11, we will issue a 50% refund; after July 11, no refunds will be issued. If Choir Camp is canceled (the only forseeable reason being insufficient registration), you will receive a full refund.

Dress
Students should dress modestly. We ask that ladies wear conservative skirts or dresses.
Preparation
Students should memorize what they plan to sing in masterclass; a simple hymn from the hymnal is fine. They should also invite family and friends to the Final Concert, to be held at Milwood Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7.
Housing
Out-of-town students should contact us as soon as possible if they would like assistance finding a local family with whom to stay. Local families who would like to volunteer as hosts should contact us as well.
